Follow Up : Our first Ackron Wind Farm exhibition

We have been encouraged by the positive local response to proposals for Ackron Wind Farm near Melvich.

More than 40 residents and other interested parties attended our public exhibition at Melvich Village Hall on 26 June to learn more about the proposal.

The early-stage engagement meeting included an opportunity to view an interactive map to show how the wind farm could look from different locations and to find out more about an opportunity for the project to bring improved broadband to the area.

In addition, the exhibition provided information on shared ownership, local construction and the community fund legacy that could see £245,000 each year being available after development.

Our plans are at an early stage and we gained some valuable input from the community that will help shape our plans. Thank you to everyone that took the time to meet us. There were some great suggestions for how the community fund could be put to good use and we made some connections with local suppliers who could be involved in the construction, should the project go ahead.

We will take all the information gained from the exhibition into account and assess results of site surveys before deciding the number and location of turbines that could be applied for in a formal planning application to Highland Council.

We will follow up personally with anyone who contacted us or attended the exhibition. If you would like to stay informed of project news, please register on this site to receive updates.
