Kitland Solar Farm in brief

The proposed development is located south-west of Wrington, north of Langford, and south-east of Congresbury.

Our proposal is for a 39.9 MW solar farm with consideration for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). We estimate the site has potential to produce enough clean, renewable electricity to power the equivalent of 11,500 homes.  Including the potential for Battery Energy Storage would help maximise renewable energy produced on site.

Why Solar Energy?

Solar power is a crucial technology to help overcome our energy security and climate challenges.  One of the reasons for chosing to develop Kitland Solar Farm here is because of high solar radiance levels, making it a great location for solar farms and helping to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.

The cost of solar has significantly reduced in recent years: it is now one of the cheapest ways to produce electricity. 2022 was a record-breaking year for renewable energy in the UK; solar power can produce as much as 30% of UK electricity at different points in the year.

Solar farms can also be wildlife havens, by incorporating wildflower meadows, restoration of hedgerows, and native planting. The first results of a national survey produced with Lancaster University highlight the valuable biodiversity benefits from solar farms across the UK.
