Richborough Greener Grid Park
About our proposed Greener Grid Park
Greener Grid Parks, including this one proposed south of Richborough Energy Park, will help achieve a renewables-ready network. As renewable energy generation increases across Great Britain, new ways to maintain system stability are required. Our proposal does not relate to a solar or battery project, but is essential infrastructure to support the nearby 400kV National Grid substation.”
We submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment screening request to Dover and Thanet Councils in December 2025 to determine what studies were needed for our planning application.
This website will be kept updated as our plans progress.
About Greener Grid Parks
Greener Grid Parks are a collection of buildings, containing zero carbon technology which stabilise the grid, allowing more renewable energy to be transmitted through the network. They are not a wind or solar farm, the buildings resemble agricultural barns, storage units or shipping containers.
Large electrical machines with flywheels (called synchronous compensators) can replace the spinning turbines of a traditional power station but without emitting any carbon dioxide.
