Treviscoe Solar Farm

About Treviscoe Solar Farm

Treviscoe Solar Farm is a project proposed for a [size] site on land at [location]. The project will secure [region]’s position at the forefront of renewable energy generation while helping to mitigate the effects of global climate change.

The site has been carefully chosen for its potential to deliver renewable electricity to the grid, helping meet national and local renewable energy targets.

The solar energy farm would have an approximate design capacity of [MW] and is expected to generate enough energy to power over [homes number rounded down] homes every year. The proposal also includes [XMW of battery storage / a Greener Grid Park to increase the amount of renewable energy transmitted through the national grid].

On this page, you will be able to find more details on the proposal and the estimated timeline of the project, as well as details on how to get in touch and provide feedback. As the project progresses, we plan to share more information with you via this website and through our pre-application consultation process.

The project is currently [in the early stages of the development process / being considered by X after we submitted the application on X date].

Location

Finding a suitable location for a solar energy project is a careful balancing act. This proposal is located north-west of Treviscoe and west of St Dennis within the China Clay Area.

This site has been carefully selected as part of a detailed feasibility process which includes considering designated areas, land grade and the levels of solar energy that can be achieved. Local electricity grid connections have been analysed to identify where there is capacity to receive the amount of electricity being produced and a multitude of surveys have or are being carried out, such as ecology, landscape and flood risk to assess the lands suitability for solar energy farm use.

Renewable energy - targets and benefits

In June 2019, the UK government amended the Climate Change Act of 2008 and set a legally binding target to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Their aim: to set a world-leading target that will bring to an end the UK’s contribution to climate change. Cornwall have made their own impressive commitments – to achieve net zero by 2030 – in their Climate Change Action Plan.

Treviscoe solar farm could be a step in this energy transition, preventing nearly 15,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere each year, and producing enough clean, renewable electricity for over 9,000 homes.

The project intends to deliver other benefits – a community benefit fund, business rates contribution to the local economy, local jobs and supply contracts, as well as improvements to wildlife, with long term habitat management being a big part of the plans.
