Latest news
Following the end of our statutory consultation on 19 November, we would like to thank everyone who took the time to visit our exhibitions or who provide feedback.
We will now be taking time to review all feedback ahead of submission of our application to Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) later this year.
All materials from the statutory consultation will remain available on this website ahead of submission of the final application. Any comments or questions on the project should be submitted through the Get In Touch page, by email at UKprojects@statkraft.com, by post at FREEPOST Statkraft or by phone on 0800 772 0668.
Statkraft is launching its statutory consultation on detailed proposals for Alleston Solar Farm, located between Pembroke and Lamphey, in Pembrokeshire. The plans follow extensive environmental studies and feedback received during early engagement carried out last year.
More information on the proposals can be found on the Pre_Application Consultation page and members of the project team will be available to discuss the project at the consultation events:
- 1pm to 6pm on Tuesday 22 October 2024 at Pembroke Town Hall, Main Street (SA71 4JS)
- 12pm to 4.30pm on Wednesday 23 October 2024 at Lamphey Village Hall (SA71 5PB)
The deadline for comments is midnight on Tuesday 19 November 2024.
Following the statutory consultation, the proposals will be finalised and a Development of National Significance (DNS) application will be submitted to Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) for examination before being determined by Welsh Government Ministers.
Statkraft has today confirmed that the PEDW have provided the Scoping Direction for Alleston Solar Farm.
This document outlines the surveys and other work that must be undertaken as part of the planning application for the project. The full scoping direction is available on the PEDW website (Ref. DNS CAS-03072-D7X6N7) and from the Project Documents section of the project webpage.
New research from Lancaster University shows UK solar farms can support bee and butterfly populations.
New research, led by scientists at Lancaster University and in collaboration with the University of Reading, has been published in the journal Ecological Solutions and Evidence that show the setting of solar farms, coupled with planting on solar sites can be beneficial to pollinators across the UK.
The research highlighted how increased planting around solar farms plays a crucial role in supporting insects in surrounding landscapes that otherwise have fewer features like hedgerows.
Thank you to everyone who attended our in-person consultation events on 29th and 30th November 2023! Your feedback will help us to develop a better project and we look forward to responding to the community.
Members of the Alleston Solar Farm project team have attended met with Councillor Mel Philips of Pembroke County Council to discuss the proposed Alleston Solar Farm near Pembroke.
The meeting provided valuable feedback for the project team ahead of public engagement later this month. The feedback, along with feedback from public engagement events later this month, will help the project team shape the proposal to the needs and wishes of local residents.
