Stargoose Solar Farm latest construction updates
Statkraft's appointed grid contractor have now mobilised on site and commenced works for the new access track and passing bays from the existing bell mouth entrance up to where the new substation area is located.
Construction works for this new access are expected to be completed by the end of September, where they will then commence works for the new substation area in October.
Statkraft's appointed civil contractor have begun to mobilise on site and commence works for the new access bypass road around the Childerley Estate. Construction works for the new road are expected to be completed end of September.
Statkraft have appointed their civil contractor for the full design and build of a new access road which serves as a bypass road around the Childerley Estate.
This was granted under a separate planning application and will be used solely for all vehicles to access the Stargoose site for the construction phase of works.
Between August and December 2025, UK Power Networks (UKPN) constructed the necessary grid works on site at Stargoose.
This involved erecting a new 132kV tower on site with sealing end platform and reinstalling the existing overhead power lines. The tower will provide the point of connection to the National Grid in preparation for the new solar farm being constructed in 2026-2027/28.
Statkraft entered into an early-stage contract with our chosen supplier for the 132/33kV grid transformer for the new substation.
This is a critical milestone achieved for the project, as the detailed electrical design and delivery lead-times for 132kV grid transformer can typically take around 18 months from design to delivery to site and this is a vital piece of equipment for the project.
Following an extensive tender process, Statkraft entered into an early-stage contract with our chosen ICP (Independent Connection Provider) for the 132kV detailed electrical design works and the procurement of associated equipment required for the new substation.
This is a critical milestone achieved for the project, as the detailed electrical design and delivery lead-times for 132kV equipment can typically take around 18 months to 2 years.

In early April 2025, Statkraft implemented their planning permission, by contracting their civil contractor for the design and construction of a new bell mouth entrance to the Stargoose Solar Farm site.
