Planning history
Stargoose Solar Farm was granted planning permission by South Cambridgeshire District Council in April 2022. There have been three subsequent minor applications to vary specific aspects of the initial planning application, each of which are linked to the Greater Cambridge Shared Planning Portal below.
Stargoose Solar Farm was approved on 14 April 2022 under application 21/02173/FUL, for a solar farm and associated infrastructure on land north-east of Childerley Farm.
A separate application, 23/04313/FUL, was approved in March 2024 to provide a dedicated construction and operational access route, which was not included within the original consent.
A Section 73 variation, 24/01176/S73, was approved in June 2024 to amend the layout and relocate the high voltage compound, substation and battery energy storage system (BESS) to align with an improved grid connection point and optimise the project design.
A further Section 73 application, 25/04201/S73, was approved in January 2026 to remove the BESS from the project, introduce a second temporary construction compound and make further design refinements to support project delivery.
These applications has allowed the project design to be refined and optimised while retaining the approved solar generation capacity and associated environmental commitments.
